Threlkel, Caudill homer in Valley’s comeback win over Knox

Tippecanoe Valley 9, Knox 4 (Tuesday): Kaitlyn Threlkel and Temperance Caudill both homered, and Dalynne Bussard pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts for the visiting Lady Vikings as they rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat host Knox in an Indiana Northern State Conference game Tuesday.

Mackaylie Costello added two hits and two RBIs, and Bussard had two hits and an RBI. Kahlyn Manns also had two hits and two runs scored. Elise Smith doubled and drove in a run. Malaynie Costello had a single.

Caudill had two RBIs, and Naomi Gaerte had an RBI.

Bussard gave up a sacrifice fly to Cheryl Barnes and Elise Wolff’s two-run homer in the first.

But Threlkel homered in the second, and Valley scored three times in the third to take the lead for good. Mackaylie Costello had an RBI single, Manns stole home, and Gaerte made it 4-3 on a sacrifice fly.

Valley avenged a 6-4 home loss to Knox April 17.
