Valley boys tennis roundup: Valley beats Plymouth for 3-0 start

Tippecanoe Valley 4, Plymouth 1 (Wednesday): William Mellott, Noah Mellott and Thad Shambaugh won their singles matches in straight sets for the visiting Vikings in a win over Plymouth Wednesday.

Valley only lost seven games combined in the three singles matches.

Also, J.J. Kammerer and Brent Miller won in straight sets at No. 2 doubles.

Liam Newcomer and Hayden Stookey lost in straight sets at No. 1 doubles.

Valley improved to 3-0. Valley coach Thadd Mellott said that Mishawaka did not show up for their scheduled match Tuesday.

RESULTS: VALLEY 4, PLYMOUTH 1

Singles

William Mellott (TV) won 6-1, 6-1.

Noah Mellott (TV) won 6-1, 6-0

Thad Shambaugh (TV) won 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles

Liam Newcomer-Hayden Stookey (TV) lost 6-3, 6-4.

J.J. Kammerer-Brent Miller (TV) won 7-6 (5), 7-5.

Tippecanoe Valley 5, North Judson 0 (Aug. 21): William Mellott, Noah Mellott and Thad Shambaugh won their singles matches in straight sets, and the doubles teams of Liam Newcomer and Hayden Stookey and J.J. Kammerer and Brent Miller prevailed without dropping a game in Valley’s win over North Judson in their home opener Aug. 21.

Valley dropped only five games total in 10 sets.
