Valley girls basketball update: Egolf scores 21, Lady Vikings hold Knox to 2 FGs in rout

Girls basketball

Tippecanoe Valley 61, Knox 15 (Jan. 4): Ava Egolf hit three 3-pointers and single-handedly outscored the entire Knox team with 21 points for the host Lady Vikings in a win over sectional rival Knox on Jan. 4.

Gaby Gonzalez added nine, all in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, the Valley defense held Knox to two field goals. Portland Minix hit Knox’s only 3-pointer in the second quarter and scored a team-high five points.

Valley led 27-4 after one quarter and extended the lead to 43-9 at halftime.

Northridge 67, Tippecanoe Valley 42 (Jan. 3): Ava Egolf scored 17 points, and Kelsey Cox and Lucy Hayden added eight apiece, but visiting Valley lost to Class 4A, No. 11 Northridge on Jan. 3.

Ella Mohamed scored 25 points for Northridge. Rielyn Goodwin added 16, and Sabrina Miller had 12.

Northridge led 20-13 after one quarter and extended the lead to 34-19 at halftime.

The 67 points were the most Valley has allowed in a game this season. Northridge hit 12 3-pointers.

Northridge improved to 18-1. Valley fell to 13-3.

Ava Egolf added 18 points, and Kelsey Cox had 16.

Hayden hit both of Valley’s 3-pointers. Valley led 48-26 at halftime.

Valley forced 35 turnovers while only committing seven themselves.

Western 63, Tippecanoe Valley 35 (Dec. 22): Ava Egolf scored 11 points, and Lucy Hayden added 10, but the Lady Vikings lost to Western in a first-round game at the eight-team Carroll (Flora) tournament on Dec. 22.

Egolf and Hayden also had five rebounds each.

Kayleigh Turner led Western with 18 points, Mackenzie York had 13, and Chloe Hunt had 12.

Western led 28-22 at halftime and extended the lead to 49-29 after three quarters.

Western beat Valley for the second time this season. They also beat Valley 44-37 in Russiaville on Nov. 15.

Kaiden Hanley led North Miami with 25 points, and Victoria Masters added 11.

Valley led 32-20 at halftime.

Valley bested North Miami for the 16th consecutive season. Valley coach Chris Kindig is 14-0 in his career against North Miami.

Valley also won a two-quarter JV game 23-17 behind Hadley Wise’s 10 points.

Valley led 30-19 at halftime and held Triton to four points in the fourth quarter.

Valley forced 29 turnovers. 

Valley beat Triton for the 10th consecutive meeting.
