Valley girls golf roundup: Miller takes medalist at Plymouth Invite

Tippecanoe Valley sophomore Savana Miller shot a 79 at Pretty Lake Golf Club to take medalist honors at the Plymouth Invitational Tuesday.

Miller’s round included a birdie on the par-4 11th hole. She only had one double bogey.

As a team, Valley shot a 431 and finished fifth out of nine teams.

Other Valley scores included Maris Overbey’s 112, Brystol Sands’ 119, McKinley Burton’s 121 and Maci Parker’s 136.

Warsaw won the team title with a 337. LaPorte was second with a 385.

Warsaw’s Vivian Piecuch was second behind Miller with an 80.

Valley finishes 15th at Homestead Invite (Monday): The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team shot a 441 and finished in 15th place out of 18 teams at the season-opening Homestead Invitational at Chestnut Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne Monday.

Savana Miller led Valley with an 86, Maris Overbey had a 112, Gentry Bouse had a 118, McKinley Burton had a 125, and Taylor Long had a 129.

Josie Kelley of Noblesville was the medalist with a 68. Kelley finished sixth place at state last year. Penn’s Scarlett Biever fired a 69.

Noblesville, last year’s state runner-up, won the team title with a 298. Runner-up Penn shot a 318.
