Girls tennis
Whitko 3, Tippecanoe Valley 2 (Wednesday): The Valley girls tennis team lost to Whitko in a Warsaw sectional quarterfinal Wednesday. Valley, who carried a four-match winning streak heading into the sectional, finishes 10-7.
The match marked the end of the prep tennis careers for five seniors: No. 2 singles player Lydia Miller, No. 3 singles player Talia Holder, No. 1 doubles player Lily Ault and No. 2 doubles team Kylee Trepanier and Madelyn Weaver.
Whitko will play Columbia City, who received a bye, in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Warsaw, the 21-time defending sectional champion, will meet Wawasee in the other semifinal.
Whitko also beat Valley 4-1 in their regular season meeting on April 20.
The sectional final is set for 4:30 p.m. Friday.
