Valley leaving TRC, to join new conference

BY VAL TSOUTSOURIS

Sports Editor, RTC

A new six-team conference that includes Tippecanoe Valley will begin in the 2024-25 school year, according to social media posts from three of the member schools Wednesday.

The other five schools are Bremen, John Glenn, Jimtown, Knox and LaVille.

Bremen, John Glenn and LaVille acknowledged the formation of the new conference on their respective social media accounts; Valley, Jimtown and Knox did not. Valley, Jimtown and Knox are all on spring break this week.

WHME Sports Director Chuck Freeby reported Friday that Valley had sent a letter to the Three Rivers Conference of its intentions to leave. He also reported that Bremen, John Glenn and Jimtown had informed the Northern Indiana Conference that it was leaving and that Knox and LaVille had told the Hoosier North that it was leaving.

RTC was unable to independently verify the news that Valley was leaving and forming a new conference prior to the social media posts from Bremen, John Glenn and LaVille.

No representative from the Valley administration has replied to RTC’s request for comment.

Valley has been a member of the TRC since 1975 when the school opened. Valley shared the TRC title in football with Rochester and Southwood this school year and won the TRC outright in girls basketball and boys basketball.

“Watching game film of some new teams!” Valley assistant football coach Carl Weaver said in a tweet Wednesday.
