Kiser, Akase, Shepherd also score in double figures

Boys basketball
Tippecanoe Valley 63, Triton 46 (Friday): Nolan Cumberland scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures, and Tayde Kiser scored all 12 of his points in the second half as the Valley boys basketball team beat Triton at the Trojan Trench Friday.
Stephen Akase also scored 12 points, including six in the fourth quarter, and Riley Shepherd scored all 11 of his points in the first half, including three 3-pointers.
Cole Shively, coming off a 35-point performance against Rochester three days earlier, scored a game-high 27 for Triton.
Valley (17-4) led 11-9 after one quarter but extended the lead to 28-19 at halftime.
The Vikings also outscored the Trojans 22-14 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Valley has won five of the last six meetings with Triton (11-9).
While Valley was playing a nonconference game Friday, they also clinched the outright Three Rivers Conference title. Both Manchester and Peru had a chance to share the title, but Manchester lost to Maconaquah 73-68, and Peru fell to Rochester 55-52. Valley finished TRC play 8-1.
