Mellott tallies 22, Moriarty, Miller add 13 each

Girls basketball
Tippecanoe Valley 73, Manchester 38 (Saturday): Kaydence Mellott scored 20 of her game-high 22 points in the first half, and Molly Moriarty and Chesnee Miller each added 13 for the Valley girls basketball team as they finished Three Rivers Conference play 9-0 with a win over visiting Manchester Saturday.
Valley had already clinched the outright TRC title with their win over Southwood on Jan. 21, but they assured themselves of an undefeated conference record after building a 35-21 halftime lead and extending it to 58-29 after three quarters.
Lily Ault, Gabby Gonzalez and Ava Smith had six points each. Valley won all nine conference games by at least 11 points.
Gracie Lauer led Manchester with 12 points. The Valley defense held Manchester leading scorer Brookelynn Buzzard to four.
Manchester set a season high in points allowed.
Valley beat Manchester for the fourth straight year.
