Valley’s Crabb, Alber, Sisk advance to Fort Wayne semistate

Wrestling

With help from three semistate qualifiers, the Tippecanoe Valley wrestling team scored 35 points and finished 10th out of 20 teams at the Peru regional Saturday.

Oak Hill won the title with 140 points while Western was second with 88.

Valley semistate qualifiers included Dalton Alber, who was second at 215 pounds; Kolten Sisk, who was third at heavyweight; and Colton Crabb, who was fourth at 165.

Alber, a senior, clinched his semistate spot with a fall in 2:51 over Jimmy Rincon over Tri-Central. He then beat Andrew Cavasos of Eastern (Greentown) 7-4 in the semifinals before losing 7-2 in overtime to Manchester’s Preston Duffy in the final.

Sisk, a sophomore, earned his semistate ticket with a fall in 4:37 over Kokomo’s Jedaiah Beard. Sisk then lost by fall to Tri-Central’s Patrick Kinney in 41 seconds in the semifinals before rebounding to beat Oak Hill’s Conner Fernandes in the third-place match.

Crabb, a junior, wrapped up a semistate spot with a fall in 3:03 over Madison-Grant’s Nick Rich. He then lost by fall to Oak Hill’s R.J. Trevino in 3:34 in the semifinals and to North Miami’s Jordan Simon in 2:11 in the third-place match.

Alber, Sisk and Crabb will wrestle at the Fort Wayne semistate at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Max Harsh (106), Kodiak Hillen (113), Remington Rickel (144), Denver Wilson (157) and Parker Adamson (175) all lost their ticket matches and were eliminated. Hillen lost by technical fall to Kokomo’s Jalen Sawyer-May, and the others lost by fall.
