Valley’s Hallstrom, Parker eliminated in state doubles tournament

The Tippecanoe Valley No. 1 doubles team of Karley Hallstrom and Maci Parker lost to the NorthWood team of Abby Schmucker and Eden Wiggins 6-3, 6-2 in a sectional doubles match at NorthWood High School Wednesday.

The loss ends the prep tennis careers of Hallstrom and Parker, both seniors.

Valley’s team had their season end with a 4-1 loss to Columbia City in the sectional final at Warsaw Friday, but Hallstrom and Parker continued on in the state tournament because they went undefeated in three matches during the team sectional.

“Girls played their hardest,” coach Zach Shambaugh told RTC in a text message. “Just came up short.”
