Valley’s Miller shoots 74, wins sectional medalist

The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team shot a 408 and finished in fifth place at the Warsaw sectional at Stonehenge Golf Club Thursday, ending their season. Tippecanoe Valley sophomore Savana Miller shot a 3-over-par 74 to win sectional medalist honors at the Warsaw sectional at Stonehenge Golf Club in Winona Lake Thursday.

As a team, Valley shot a 408 and finished in fifth place, ending their season. Warsaw won the sectional with a 337, and NorthWood (356) and Culver Academy (375) also advanced to the regional at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville Sept. 26.

Miller advanced as one of the top three individuals on non-advancing teams along with Manchester’s Raegan Shah (91) and Piper Spangle (95).

Among all golfers, Miller beat NorthWood’s Sophie Richmond by three strokes. Richmond, a Marian University commit, was the 2024 sectional medalist.

Miller advanced as an individual to the regional for the second straight year. She shot a 78 at last year’s sectional and finished third.

Miller’s round included birdies on Nos. 2, 5 and 18.

Other Valley scores included Gentry Bouse’s 99, Jenna Prater’s 116, Brystol Sands’ 119 and Maris Overbey’s 125.
