Tippecanoe Valley senior Greg Miller shot a 78 at the Warsaw regional at Stonehenge Golf Club in Winona Lake Thursday and finished nine strokes behind the two players to advance to state as individuals.
Leo won the regional with a 308. Homestead (312) and Northridge (315) also advanced to state.
Westview’s Silas Haarer and Fairfield’s Brayden Miller each shot 69 and were the two individuals to advance on non-advancing teams. Haarer defeated Miller in a sudden-death playoff for medalist honors.
Miller finished 23rd overall out of 90 golfers in the regional field. He bogeyed No. 1, birdied the par-4 second hole but followed with three straight bogeys. He had five pars and four bogeys on the back nine.
Miller was competing as an individual after shooting an 80 at the Warsaw sectional at Rozella Ford Golf Club on June 2 and earning the third individual spot among players on non-advancing teams.
Miller is the first Valley boys golfer to qualify for the regional since Bryce Zimpleman in 2014.
