Valley shoots 489, finishes 10th at Warsaw girls golf sectional

The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team

The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team shot a 489 and finished 10th out of 10 complete teams at the Warsaw sectional at Stonehenge Golf Club in Winona Lake Saturday.

Maddie Thompson led Valley with a 116, Lucy Hayden had a 122, Makynna Rentschler had a 123, Maris Overbey had a 123, and Jenna Prater had a 139.

Culver Academy won the sectional with a 315. Warsaw (333) and Plymouth (355) also advanced to the East Noble regional at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville this Saturday.

NorthWood’s Sophie Richmond (76), NorthWood’s Joey Slone (93) and Triton’s Chloe McKinney (96) had the three lowest scores among individuals on non-advancing teams, and they also advanced to the regional.

Culver Academy’s Lynne Zhang defeated Warsaw’s Abbey Peterson on a playoff fort medalist honors. Each shot 71 during regulation play.

Culver Community did not participate in the sectional.
