Valley Unified Flag Football draws Homestead

Unified Flag Football
The Tippecanoe Valley Unified Flag Football team drew Homestead in the sectional quarterfinals, per the IHSAA draw released Monday.
Valley will host the six-team sectional Oct. 4. The entire sectional will be completed that day.
The Homestead-Valley winner will play Warsaw in the semifinals.
In the other half of the bracket, Carroll (Fort Wayne) will take on Manchester with the winner to face New Haven. Carroll (Fort Wayne) is the defending state champion.
This marks the eighth year of the Unified Flag Football state tournament. Seven different teams have won the state title in the tournament’s history.
The IHSAA reports that 46 schools will field teams in the tournament, a new record. Valley is the only RTC area school with a team.
Valley’s team includes seniors Karley Hallstrom and Chloe Reinhart; juniors Hunter Harris, Channon Frentzel, Autumn Rogers and Grayson Clark; and freshmen Mason Ward, Mauricio Malagan, Adric Shock, Malachi Richards, Bella Harris, Bryson Martin, Eelan Fear and David White.
Kris Walker, Aaron Engbrecht and Andrew Thompson are the coaches. David Walker is the team manager.
The Valley sectional champion will feed into the South Bend Adams regional Oct. 11. The state finals will be held at Grand Park Sports Event Center in Westfield at 1 p.m. Oct. 18.
