Van Duyne drives in 2 in Argos win over SB Career Academy

Argos 11, South Bend Career Academy 5 (April 7): Noah Van Duyne had two RBIs and scored two runs, and Jackson Kindig singled, doubled and scored three times for the Argos baseball team in a Hoosier Plains home win over South Bend Career Academy April 7.

South Bend Career Academy pitchers walked seven and hit a batter, and their defense committed eight errors. Argos also stole nine bases, including three from Nate Manikowski.

Devon Becker singled and drove in a run, and Manikowski also singled.

Argos won despite their pitchers walking 12. Kyle Bradley pitched 3 ⅔ innings for the win, allowing one hit and one unearned run. He walked four and struck out eight.

William Barenie, Brady Montgomery, Manikowski and Kindig also saw mound time for Argos.

Dalton Clark took the loss for South Bend Career Academy. He pitched three innings and allowed six hits and nine runs (three earned). He walked five and struck out six.

LaVille 13, Argos 1 (5 innings, April 10): Jackson Kindig singled and scored Argos’ lone run in a five-inning loss to host LaVille on April 10.

Argos struck out 12 times as a team. Kindig was the only player in the Argos starting lineup that did not strike out.

Jamin Trump drove in the lone run. Nate Manikowski also had a single.

William Barenie took the loss on the mound, allowing eight hits and nine runs (all earned) in two innings. He walked four, hit a batter and struck out three.

Manikowski pitched two innings in relief and allowed six hits and four earned runs. He walked one, hit a batter and struck out one.

LaVille scored eight runs in the first inning and never trailed.

Elkhart Christian 14-16, Argos 4-3 (April 22): Nate Manikowski and Kyle Penn had two hits each, and Jackson Kindig, Jamin Trump and Noah Van Duyne had a hit and an RBI each for the Argos baseball team in a 14-4 loss in five innings to Elkhart Christian on April 22.

Devin Becker and Mason Hibner had one hit each.

Kindig took the loss on the mound, allowing 11 hits and eight runs (six earned) over three innings. He walked three and struck out five.

Van Duyne relieved and allowed five hits and six runs (four earned) in 1 ⅓ innings. He walked three, hit a batter and struck out two.

L.J. Bevier went 5 for 5 with an RBI and four runs scored for Elkhart Christian.

Elkhart Christian scored four runs in the bottom of the third to break a 4-4 tie. They added five more in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Elkhart Christian completed the sweep with a 16-3 win in five innings. Trump singled and had two RBIs, and Hibner also had a hit and an RBI. Kindig and Bradley also had a hit.

Manikowski was the losing pitcher, allowing 14 runs (10 earned) in 2 ⅓ innings. He allowed seven hits, three walks and a hit batter with three strikeouts.

Hibner relieved and allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) over 1 ⅔ innings. He walked one and struck out two.

Elkhart Christian scored nine runs in the bottom of the first to take a 9-1 lead.

Whitko 12, Argos 1 (5 innings, April 25): Devon Becker had a single for the visiting Dragons, but Jaxon Harper and three relievers combined on a one-hitter for victorious Whitko on April 25.

Jamin Trump drove in Nate Manikowski for the lone Argos run in the third inning.

Harper and David Ousley had three RBIs each.

Whitko scored seven runs in the bottom of the second to take a 7-0 lead.

Manikowski started on the mound for Argos and allowed six hits and eight runs (three earned) over three innings. He walked two, hit two batters and struck out three.

Jackson Kindig relieved and allowed four hits and four runs (all earned) in one inning of relief.

Peru 11, Argos 1 (5 innings, April 27): Jackson Kindig and Nate Manikowski each singled for Argos in a home loss to Peru on April 27.

Jamin Trump drove in Manikowski in the bottom of the first for the lone Dragon run.

Kindig also stole two bases.

Kindig pitched a complete game and allowed 10 hits and 11 runs (two earned). He walked one, hit two batters and fanned two.

Argos committed eight errors which led to nine unearned runs for Peru.

Peru scored four runs in the first and never trailed.
