Webb homers, Beasy drives in 3 as Pioneer softball beats Delphi in extras

Softball

Pioneer 8, Delphi 6 (9 innings, April 13): Casey Webb hit a solo homer as part of a two-hit night, and Ava Beasy singled, doubled and drove in three runs for the visiting Lady Panthers in a road win over Delphi on April 13.

Crystabelle Blickenhstaff singled and doubled and drove in a run, and Adeline Cripe also had two hits.

Kamryn Newby had a hit and an RBI, and Emma Sells, Hollie Zellers and Kylie Attinger also had a hit.

Pioneer also drew four walks and stole five bases.

Shaylee Goings went all nine innings, allowing 11 hits and six runs (all earned). She walked five and struck out two.

Pioneer won despite Delphi pitcher Lexi Miller striking out 15.

Pioneer trailed 6-4 after five innings but scored one in the sixth, one in the seventh and two in the ninth.

Delphi would eventually advance to the Class 2A semistate.

Attinger has 2 RBIs, but North Miami softball beats Pioneer in extras

Softball

North Miami 6, Pioneer 5 (8 innings, April 15): Kylie Attinger had two hits and two RBIs, and Crystabelle Blickenstaff and Jocelynn Vincent also had multi-hit games, but the Pioneer softball team lost to host North Miami on April 15.

Kamryn Newby and Hollie Zellers each had a hit and an RBI. Casey Webb and Ava Beasy each had a double. Emma Sells had a single.

Freshman Tiara Denny took the loss in the circle, allowing 11 hits and four earned runs in a complete game effort. She walked three and struck out two.

Pioneer trailed 5-2 after six innings but scored three times in the seventh to tie it before North Miami walked it off in the bottom of the seventh.

North Miami committed six errors which led to four unearned runs for Pioneer. Lauren Duncan had no walks and six strikeouts in the circle for the Lady Warriors, who would go on to win the Three Rivers Conference title.

Blickenstaff’s blasts help Pioneer beat Lewis Cass

Softball

Pioneer 8, Lewis Cass 2 (April 20): Crystabelle Blickenstaff hit two homers and drove in four runs, and Kylie Attinger added two hits and two RBIs for the host Lady Panthers in a win over sectional rival Lewis Cass on April 20.

Jocelynn Vincent and Ava Beasy also had two hits each, and Hollie Zellers had a hit and an RBI. Emma Sells contributed a single.

Shaylee Goings pitched a four-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts for the win.

Pioneer scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to build a 7-1 lead.

Lewis Cass would avenge this loss with a 15-5 win over Pioneer in the sectional final at Rochester on May 25.

Pioneer 16, Plymouth 13 (April 22)

Pioneer 15, Whiting 7 (April 22)

Kylie Attinger had three hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs, and Casey Webb went 4 for 4 with two RBIs for Pioneer in a come-from-behind win over Plymouth as part of a three-way doubleheader at Whiting on April 22.

Adeline Cripe and Ava Beasy also had three hits and two RBIs each, fueling a 20-hit Lady Panther attack. Jocelynn Vincent and Kamryn Newby had two hits and two RBIs each.

Vincent had a triple, and Newby had a stolen base.

Emma Sells had a hit and an RBI, and Olivia Fisher also had an RBI.

Pioneer won despite Cripe and Shaylee Goings combining for nine walks in the circle. Goings got the win, allowing 11 hits and nine runs (all earned) over 5 â…” innings. She walked two and struck out two. Cripe pitched 1 â…“ innings and allowed four runs (three earned) with seven walks and one strikeout.

Pioneer scored four runs in the first but trailed 12-8 after five innings before scoring eight runs in the sixth.

Pioneer then followed with a win over host Whiting, rallying from a 3-0 deficit after one inning. Cripe had four hits – three singles and a double – and four RBIs. Vincent had two hits, including a homer and a triple, and two RBIs, and Goings also homered.

Webb had three hits and an RBI. Attinger had two hits and two RBIs. Olivia Fisher had two hits and an RBI, and Newby also had two hits. Blickenstaff had a double and an RBI, and Beasy had a hit and an RBI. Sells also had a double.

Goings pitched a nine-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts. Due to five Pioneer errors, three of the runs she allowed were unearned.
