Caston routs S. Central; Culver falls to No. 3 N. Judson; Rine stars as Pioneer shuts out N. Miami; Winamac blanks Triton

Tippecanoe Valley 40, LaVille 3 (Friday): Mason Miller had a 52-yard touchdown run and also returned an interception for a touchdown, and quarterback Hunter Randall ran for two touchdowns as the visiting Vikings stayed unbeaten in Indiana Northern State Conference play Friday.

Owen Omondi had a 35-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and led the team with 75 yards rushing. Hunter Paxton ran for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Randall accounted for 96 yards of offense – 51 rushing, 45 passing. Max Harsh had a 23-yard reception, and Ty Kiser caught two passes for 22 yards. 

The Valley defense held LaVille to 58 yards of offense and six first downs. Caleb Skiles’ 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter averted the shutout, but Miller and Randall followed with touchdown runs to close out the scoring.

Valley improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the INSC. Valley and Jimtown are the only remaining unbeaten teams in the INSC, and the teams will meet at Baugo Township this Friday.

Caston 48, South Central (Union Mills) 6 (Friday): Ashton Bowyer ran for a team-high 84 yards and a touchdown, and Landen Rigney ran for 79 yards and two touchdowns as the host Comets routed South Central Friday.

Logan Mollenkopf ran for 67 yards and two touchdowns, and London Herd added 58 yards rushing. Bronson Howard also ran for a touchdown, and Abel Lovelady had a 15-yard run on his only carry.

Gage Minniear had an 18-yard reception and an interception on defense.

Caymen Brown received a fumble for a touchdown on defense.

Bowyer and Ethan Reason led the defense with eight tackles each. Herd had six tackles. 

Caston led 28-0 on defense.

Caston is 4-1 for the first time since 2009. Caston is 3-0 against South Central since South Central joined the Hoosier North for football in 2024.

Pioneer 35, North Miami 0 (Friday): Shiloh Rine led Pioneer with 63 yards rushing and 60 yards receiving, and he also caught two touchdown passes from Colton Popejoy as the Class 1A, No. 2 Panthers rolled over North Miami at the Panther Pit Friday.

Rine also had an 84-yard kickoff return.

Phillip McFatridge ran for 49 yards and two touchdowns and also caught two passes for 18 yards. He also intercepted a pass on defense and went 5 for 5 on extra points.

Colten Long ran for 30 yards. Adric Lee caught two passes for 31 yards. 

Blu Rosen-Jacks had nine tackles on defense and Long had eight, including 1.5 tackles for loss. 

The Pioneer defense held North Miami to 42 yards of total offense.

North Miami has been shut out in back-to-back games, marking the first time that has happened since losses to Rochester and Northfield in 2021.

North Judson 43, Culver 7 (Friday): Javen Christensen threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for a team-high 69 yards and a score for the Class 1A, No. 3 Blue Jays in a road win over conference and sectional rival Culver Friday.

North Judson led 43-0 at halftime. Culver has not beaten North Judson since 2017.

Winamac 40, Triton 0 (Friday): Winamac held Triton to 158 yards of offense in a home win at Roudebush Field Friday.

Winamac led 34-0 at halftime.

Winamac beat Triton for the first time since 2021.

Rankings update

• Tippecanoe Valley reappears at No. 14 in this week’s Class 3A USA Today media poll. They are the only team in Sectional 26 to receive any recognition.

• Despite their win over Fairfield last week, Eastside dropped from No. 4 to No. 5 in this week’s Class 2A USA Today media poll. Eastside is the only team in Sectional 34 that is ranked this week. Bremen dropped out of the poll after their 44-22 loss to Jimtown.

• Pioneer stays at No. 2 in this week’s Class 1A USA Today media poll. Sectional 43 rivals Madison-Grant and Sheridan are No. 7 and No. 12, respectively.

• North Judson stays at No. 3 in this week’s Class 1A USA Today media poll. They are the only team in Sectional 41 to receive any poll recognition.
