Week 5 roundup: Smith, Hickle each run for TDs, but Caston falls to LaVille

LaVille 49, Caston 14 (Friday): Grant Hickle ran for 81 yards and a touchdown, and Sam Smith ran for 80 yards and a score for the Comets in a Hoosier North home loss to LaVille Friday.

Landon Shafer passed for 79 yards and ran for 19 yards.

Josh Sullivan had two catches for 60 yards, and Smith had a 19-yard reception.

Evan Howard led the defense with six tackles. Smith and Cain Schanlaub each had four tackles and a blocked kick. Levi Martin also had four tackles.

Shafer, Hickle and Grant Yadon had three tackles each. Sullivan and Dylan Gearhart had two tackles each. Kyle Roudebush and Pete DuVall had one tackle each.

Paul DeWitt had 15 carries for 183 yards for LaVille. Lucas Plummer accounted for 126 yards of total offense and four touchdowns – three rushing and one passing.

LaVille had 380 yards of total offense and committed no turnovers.

LaVille led 20-6 at halftime.

Triton 35, Culver 24 (Friday): Shane Shuman ran for 114 yards and two touchdowns, and Jason Cadle ran for 89 yards and a score for Culver in a home loss to conference rival Triton Friday.

Blake Thompson added 63 yards rushing.

Shuman also led the defense with 12 tackles. Tucker Fisher had seven tackles.

Cole Shively threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score. Anthony Schuh ran for 112 yards.

Culver had a 324-290 advantage in total yards but committed two turnovers while Triton committed none.

Culver led 16-14 at halftime.
