The Winamac football team’s game scheduled for Friday against North White was canceled Tuesday. Instead, Winamac will travel to Manchester Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Manchester was originally scheduled to host Wabash Friday, but that game was canceled late Monday night. No reason was given for why the North White game was canceled. Winamac beat Manchester 34-0 on Oct. 23, 2015, in a sectional quarterfinal in the teams’ most recent meeting.
The Warriors moved up from No. 10 to No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press Class 1A poll. Winamac beat Class 2A, No. 12 Pioneer Friday for their first win over the Panthers since 2014. Winamac is also 2-0 for the first time since 2014.
The Indiana Football Coaches Association has named Winamac’s John Hendryx its Region IV Colts/NFL Coach of the Week for Week 2. Region IV covers 30 area schools, including Caston, Pioneer, Rochester and Winamac.
In other Hoosier North football news, Knox has added a home game with Highland to its schedule for this Friday. Start time is 8 p.m. Eastern. Highland replaces Culver on Knox’s schedule.
