Winamac junior softball pitcher Adrianna Hall pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts against Jimtown in the Class 2A, Sectional 34 final at Bremen Thursday.

It was not enough to win.

Jimtown’s Claire Carlson pitched a six-hitter with 13 strikeouts as the Lady Jimmies knocked No. 6 Winamac out of the sectional for the second straight year with a 2-0 win.

Winamac finished 20-4. Jimtown won their first sectional title since they won a 3A sectional in 2022. They improved to 19-9.

Jimtown will host either Wheeler or Andrean in a regional Tuesday.

Sophomore Grace Roth went 3 for 3 to lead the Winamac offense. Hitting behind her, Maggie Keller went 2 for 3. Makayla Werner also had a hit.

Winamac was shut out for the first time this season. They were coming off an 18-0 win in five innings over LaVille Tuesday and had scored in double figures 15 times.

Roth and Keller had back-to-back singles in the first, but Carlson struck out Hall swinging and got Rausch on a foul out to the first baseman.

Winamac went down in order in the second, fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Roth singled with two outs in the third, but Carlson got Keller to ground to short to end the inning.

In the sixth, Werner led off with a single, but Jimtown catcher Abby Williams picked her off first. Roth and Keller followed with hits to put runners on first and second., but Hall struck out, and Rausch lined to left.

As for Hall, she started with three perfect innings. Lily Gaugler was hit by a pitch to start the fourth. Claire Carlson grounded into a fielder’s choice, but Gaugler beat the play at second. A wild pitch moved runners to second and third, and Layla Winrott’s RBI squeeze bunt scored Gaugler.

Jimtown had runners on first and second with no one out in the fifth, but Hall escaped the jam, striking out Gaugler with runners on second and third.

Carlson reached on an error to start the sixth. Three batters later, pinch runner Paige Taylor advanced to second on a wild pitch. Abby Williams then ended Hall’s no-hit bid with an RBI single.

It turned out to be Jimtown’s only hit.
