Winamac’s Wheeler tosses no-hitter in season-opening win over Argos

Winamac 21, Argos 1 (5 innings, Tuesday): Cody Wheeler struck out 13 of the 17 batters he faced in pitching a no-hitter for Winamac in a Hoosier North road win over Argos Tuesday.
Wheeler also doubled, walked and had three RBIs at the plate. Xavier Adriano and Hutch Martin each went 3 for 3 with two RBIs to spearhead a 15-hit Winamac attack. Will Malchow had two singles and two RBIs, and Bryant Galbreath singled, walked twice and also had two RBIs. Carter Ulerick came off the bench and contributed a single, a triple and an RBI. Drew DePoy walked and drove in a run. Peyton Burke had a hit, a walk and an RBI. Luke Clemons and Justin Housinger also had hits.
Argos pitchers also walked 11, hit two batters and threw nine wild pitches. The Dragons also committed three errors, which led to four unearned runs for Winamac.
Wheeler walked only one.
Carter Beatty reached on an error and scored in the bottom of the fourth for Argos. Ioan Petz was Argos’ other baserunner. He walked in the fifth.
