A. Gearhart, Goodman homer as Lady Warriors advance to sectional final

Emma Goodman singled, doubled and homered and drove in four runs, and Aubrey Gearhart doubled twice and homered to lead the No. 15 Winamac softball team to an 18-1 win in five innings over North Judson in a Class 2A, Sectional 34 semifinal at Winamac Town Park Tuesday.
Ella Goodman had a single and two doubles and drove in three. Alexis Sheets had two hits and an RBI. Catie Perry had a hit and two RBIs.
Nine different Winamac players had at least one RBI, including one each for Maggie Smith, Kaya Campbell and Samantha Perry.
Aubrey Gearhart has 12 homers on the season. As a team, Winamac has 46 homers.
McKenzie Hinz pitched a complete game in the circle, allowing four hits and one run.
She had no walks or strikeouts. She also had a single and two RBIs at the plate.
Winamac scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab a 9-1 lead, and they never trailed after that.
Winamac improved to 23-7. North Judson finished 10-11.
Winamac had beaten North Judson 8-0 in their Hoosier North meeting on May 3.
Winamac will play No. 1 Pioneer or No. 3 Boone Grove in the sectional final at 6 p.m. Thursday.
In Tuesday’s quarterfinal game at Town Park, Boone Grove defeated North Newton 9-5 to earn a semifinal date against Pioneer.
