Winamac takes 6th at Kankakee Valley girls sectional

Girls track

The Winamac girls track team scored 39.25 points and placed sixth out of 14 teams at the Kankakee Valley sectional May 20. No Winamac girls advanced to the regional.

Scoring athletes for Winamac included Kadence Hoover, who tied for fourth in the 1,600 meters and was fifth in the 3,200; Ava Malchow, who was fourth in the high jump and seventh in the 400; Sadie Popejoy, who was fifth in the discus, sixth in the 100 and seventh in the 200 and led the team with nine points scored; Avery Wegner, who was seventh in the 800, Kandace Kroft, who tied for seventh in the high jump; and Claire Goodman, who took eighth in both the 1,600 and 3,200.

Winamac also finished fourth in the 4 x 800 relay, fifth in the 4 x 400 relay and eighth in the 4 x 100 relay.

Kankakee Valley won the sectional on its home track with 152.75 points.

Kankakee Valley has won the sectional six consecutive years.
