Tippecanoe Valley will host a Class 3A girls basketball sectional, and Caston and Culver will both host Class 1A boys basketball sectionals, per the IHSAA Executive Committee vote on winter sports postseason sites taken at its Aug. 26 meeting.
Valley will host Class 3A, Sectional 20 from Feb. 3-7. Valley has won the sectional the last two times it has hosted in 2007 and 2016.
Meanwhile, Caston and Culver will both host Class 1A boys basketball sectionals from March 3-7. Caston will host Sectional 50, and Culver will host Sectional 51.
In other winter sports postseason news, Winamac will remain a girls basketball regional site; meanwhile, Caston was not selected as a regional site for the first time in over two decades.
Also, Rochester will not host a girls wrestling regional, as it did last year in the inaugural state tournament. In addition, the IHSAA has moved the girls wrestling regionals from a Friday to a Saturday. Lafayette Jeff will now host that regional Jan. 10.Â
Sectionals and the state finals will remain on Fridays on Jan. 2 and Jan. 16, respectively.
Also, the girls wrestling sectional that included Caston and Pioneer has moved from Western to Hamilton Heights.
And in one last bit of fall sports site news, Valley will host a Unified Flag Football sectional Oct. 4. The six-team grouping also includes Carroll (Fort Wayne), Homestead, Manchester, New Haven and Warsaw.
