Rochester 7, Peru 0 (forfeit, Thursday): Rochester defeated Peru by forfeit Thursday to improve to 7-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Peru forfeited due to a lack of available players.

Peru lost 13-9 to Maconaquah Wednesday. It is believed that a Peru player suffered a serious injury during the game that would not have allowed Peru to field a team at Rochester Thursday.

The Rochester Community High School Athletics social media account reported that the game would be a forfeit Thursday morning.

It is unclear why the game could not be rescheduled to another date or whether Peru will be able to continue its season.

The Peru game was originally scheduled for Monday but postponed to Thursday due to illness within the Peru team.

Rochester beat Peru 11-6 last year. Peru fielded just eight players – they played with just two outfielders – and took an automatic out when the No. 9 spot in the batting order was due in that game.

The win extends Rochester’s TRC winning streak to 22 games. The Lady Zs will host Culver Academy at 11 a.m. Saturday and have their senior day festivities at that time. They will then travel to Tippecanoe Valley for another game at 1:30 p.m.

Rochester’s next TRC game is at Whitko at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Per NFHS Softball Rule 4-4-2, the final score of a forfeited softball game that has not started is 7-0.
