Girls basketball

Fairfield 30, Tippecanoe Valley 28 (Saturday): Savana Miller hit three 3-pointers and scored nine points, but host Valley lost to Fairfield in the Class 3A, Sectional 20 final Saturday.

Hadley Wise added six points, and Dalynne Bussard and Gaby Gonzalez added five each for the Lady Vikings, who finished 17-7.

Betty Shepherd hit the go-ahead free throw with 30 seconds left to give Valley a 28-27 lead.

Eva Herbert scored 11 points for Fairfield. Macy Worthman hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with five seconds left. They were Worthman’s only points of the game.

Gonzalez missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left.

Valley trailed 8-4 after one quarter but scored 14 points in the second quarter to take an 18-12 halftime lead. They maintained a 25-21 lead after three quarters.

The 30 points for Fairfield were a season low. They average 51.6 points per game.

Fairfield (19-6) will play Kankakee Valley at Winamac at 4 p.m. this Saturday in a regional.
