Zimpleman pitches shutout, Harsh drives in 4 in Caston’s opening win

Caston 13, Carroll (Flora) 0 (6 innings, March 21): Addison Zimpleman pitched a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts, and Annie Harsh had two singles and four RBIs for the Class 1A, No. 2 Lady Comets in a season-opening win over host Carroll (Flora) on March 21.

Macee Hinderlider added two hits and a walk and two RBIs, and Isabel Scales had two hits and a walk and an RBI. Kylee Logan also had two hits and two runs scored. Zimpleman doubled and walked and scored twice.

Makena Middleton, who made her first career start at second base, had a hit and an RBI.

Mylie Rude started in left field with Alexa Finke in center and freshman Madi Douglass in right.

Carroll committed six errors.

Already leading 8-0, Caston scored five runs in the top of the sixth.
