Zimpleman, Woolever homer as part of Caston’s 41-run explosion in N. Judson sweep

L. Mollenkopf: 4 for 4 at plate, 5-hit shutout on mound in Game 2

Caston 24, North Judson 2 (Game 1, 5 innings, Monday)

Caston 17, North Judson 0 (Game 2, 5 innings, Monday)

Parker Zimpleman singled and homered and had four RBIs, and Logan Mollenkopf and Eli Holloway had three hits and three RBIs each for the Comets as they routed North Judson in five innings in Game 1 of a home doubleheader Monday.

Gavin Mollenkopf and London Herd added two hits and three RBIs each. Lucius Edson singled, walked twice and drove in two runs. Brodie Howard and Carson Harness had two hits and an RBI each. Tucker Woolever had a double and an RBI.

North Judson pitchers walked eight and hit four batters. The Blue Jays also committed four errors.

On the mound, Harness pitched a three-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts.

Caston scored 11 runs in the first inning and added 10 more in the second to build a 21-0 lead.

Caston also won the second game behind Logan Mollenkopf’s three-hit shutout with three walks and five strikeouts in addition to his 4 for 4 day at the plate. 

Woolever singled and homered and drove in four runs, and Brodie Howard had three hits and four RBIs. Harness had a pair of singles and three RBIs. London Herd had two hits and two RBIs, and Zimpleman had a double and two RBIs. Eli Holloway had a double and an RBI.

North Judson pitchers walked six and hit four batters.

Counting two forfeit wins over Argos last week, Caston is now 5-1 in the Hoosier North.

Caston was the home team in Game 1 and the visiting team in Game 2.

This was a makeup of a rainout on Saturday.
