4 Winamac players make first team; 3 Caston players, Culver’s Buschman make honorable mention

Boys soccer
Led by conference MVP Kenyan Beldon, five players from conference champion Argos and four players from runner-up Winamac made first-team All-Hoosier North in boys soccer in voting done by the conference’s coaches and released to the media Monday.
Corbin Rex, Kyle Penn, Ioan Petz and Yahir Fajardo joined Beldon on the first team.
Winamac’s Sean Stark, Jaybin Hines, Carter Ulerick and Liam Burton also made the first team.
No Caston or Culver players made the first team, but Caston’s Kaemen Lee, Mack Mappin and Myles Sherrick made honorable mention along with Culver sophomore Kael Buschman.
Beldon, a junior, had a team-high 16 goals and three assists, and Fajardo, a sophomore, added 15 goals and three assists. Petz, a senior forward, had nine goals and four assists. Rex and Penn, both seniors, were among Argos’ top defenders.
Stark set the Winamac single-season goals record with 38 and ranked third in the state. Hines set the single-season assists record at Winamac with 17 and added 15 goals. Ulerick, a senior, and Burton, a sophomore, were among Winamac’s top defenders.
Argos won the conference title with a 5-0 record and improved from nine wins last year to 12 this year. Winamac improved their conference record from 2-3 last year to 4-1 this year.
Mappin, a freshman, had a team-high six goals for the Comets. Lee, a junior, had 188 saves in goal. Sherrick, a junior, was a top defensive player.
Buschman had six goals and three assists for the Cavaliers.
