Pioneer to tee off on back 9 at regional

The Pioneer boys golf team will tee on the back nine at the Lake Central regional at Sandy Pines Golf Club in DeMotte Thursday.

Cole Franklin will tee off at 10:40 a.m. Eastern with Brady Price, Dane Bowditch, Micah Rans and Ivan Reyes teeing off at 10-minute intervals. Reyes will tee off last at 11:20 a.m.

Pioneer players will be paired with players from LaPorte and Marquette Catholic.

Pioneer will be making their second regional appearance as a team in school history. Pioneer shot a 368 and finished 13th in the 15-team field last year. Reyes, Rans, Bowditch and Price return from last year’s team.

Meanwhile, Rochester’s Ashton Musselman and Isaac Heishman will both tee off from the front nine.

Musselman will tee off at 9 a.m. Eastern, and Heishman will follow at 9:10 a.m. Eastern.

Musselman will be paired with Corbin O’Hara of Penn and Beckett Hunt of Munster. Heishman’s playing partners will be Cooper Petty of Penn and Alan Bishop of Mishawaka Marian.

The top three teams and top three individuals will advance to the IHSAA state finals, which will be held June 17-18 at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.
