Boys tennis draw: Rochester to face Manchester at sectional

Valley gets bye, awaits Warsaw or Columbia City

Both the Rochester and Tippecanoe Valley boys tennis teams received byes for their respective sectionals, according to the IHSAA draw Sunday.

Rochester will play Manchester in a semifinal in Sectional 52 at Peru at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, per the IHSAA website. The winner will advance to the sectional final at 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

In the opposite half of the bracket, Peru received a bye and will play the Maconaquah-Wabash winner in the semifinals.

Rochester edged Manchester 3-2 in their regular season meeting Sept. 8. Manchester is 1-11 on the season.

Peru has won 35 sectional titles in their history, including eight in a row. They beat Rochester 5-0 on Sept. 3 in their Three Rivers Conference meeting.

Rochester has not won a sectional title since 1983.

As for Valley, they will play the Warsaw-Columbia City winner in the semifinals of Sectional 61 at Warsaw at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. If they win, they will play in the sectional final at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Wawasee will play Whitko in the other half of the bracket.

Valley has not won a sectional match since beating Whitko in 2023. They have never won a sectional title.
