Argos jumps to No. 2: The Argos boys soccer team moved up from No. 5 to No. 2 in this week’s Class 1A coaches poll.

Lakewood Park, whom Argos beat in last year’s semistate, is No. 1.

Argos is the only team ranked from Class 1A, Sectional 36.

Maconaquah 3, Caston 0 (Saturday): Bailey Zimpleman had seven saves in goal for Caston in a road loss to Maconaquah Saturday.

“Despite the 3-0 defeat, Noah Rogers, Kade Zeider and Bailey Zimpleman had a solid game defending,” Caston coach Narciso Sanchez said in a statement. “They took on multiple waves of Maconaquah forwards and only conceded one goal in run of play.”

Maconaquah led 1-0 at halftime.

Culver 7, North Miami 2 (Saturday): Trayden Schrimsher scored three goals, and Ashton Macedonio and Damien Byers scored twice each to lead the visiting Cavaliers past sectional rival North Miami Saturday.

The win was Culver’s first since the 2018 season.

Schrimsher, Macedonio and Joey Pizur each had an assist.

Zane Hanaway and Cain Clingaman each scored a goal for North Miami.

Culver led 5-1 at halftime.

Argos 5, Faith Christian 0 (Friday): Michael Richard and Gabe Stone each had a goal and an assist for the visiting Dragons in a win over Faith Christian in Lafayette Friday.

Sean Richard, Devon Allen and Jake Stults each added a goal. Cam Markley and Teddy Redinger each contributed an assist.

Class 1A, No. 5 Argos (3-1) had an 11-0 advantage in shots on goal.

Winamac 3, Peru 0 (Thursday): Alex Stark scored twice for Winamac in a road win over Peru Thursday. Max Murray stopped three shots for the shutout in goal.

Winamac had a 21-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Logansport 7, Caston 0 (junior high, Monday): Braeden Dausman had four saves in goal for the junior high Comets in a home loss to Logansport Monday.
