The Pioneer softball team went 1-2 at the Twin Lakes Invitational on May 5-6. They dropped their first two games to Twin Lakes and Rossville before coming back to beat Bremen.
Emma Sells had two two singles and drove in both Pioneer runs in an 8-2 loss to Twin Lakes. Kylie Attinger had two singles and a double. Ava Beasy also had two hits. Adeline Cripe and Olivia Fisher had one single each.
Sells took the loss in the circle, allowing four hits and five runs (all earned) in one inning. She walked two and struck out none. Crystabelle Blickenstaff relieved and allowed five hits and three runs (one earned) in 4 ⅔ innings. She walked one and struck out one. Cripe retired the only batter she faced.
Twin Lakes jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings before Sells drove in both runs with a single in the fourth.
Sells also had three hits and drove in the lone Pioneer run in the seventh against Rossville, a top five team in Class 1A. Hollie Zellers also had three hits. Kamryn Newby singled and scored the lone run. Ava Beasy also had a single.
Cripe allowed five runs (four earned) in four innings and took the loss. She allowed nine hits, walked three and hit two batters while fanning one. Sells pitched 2 ⅓ innings in relief and allowed two hits and four runs (three earned) while walking two and striking out none. Blickenstaff pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed no hits or runs.
Rossville scored in the first and extended their lead to 3-0 in the third and 5-0 in the fifth before scoring three in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Four different Lady Panthers had multi-hit games in a 10-3 win over Bremen, including Attinger, who went 4 for 4 with an RBI; Jocelynn Vincent, who went 3 for 4 with two RBIs; Newby, who had two singles and two RBIs; and Casey Webb, who singled and doubled and drove in a run.
Beasy doubled and drove in two runs, and Sells had a single and an RBI. Zellers and Blickenstaff also had hits. Cripe was hitless but did have an RBI.
Blickenstaff pitched 5 ⅓ innings for the win, allowing three unearned runs. She allowed five hits and two walks while striking out five. Cripe finished the game, allowing a double and two walks over the final 1 ⅔ scoreless innings.
Pioneer scored four runs in the first and never trailed. They led 10-1 after four innings.

Pioneer 14, North White 0 (5 innings, May 8): Crystabelle Blickenstaff tossed a two-hit shutout with one walk and three strikeouts, and she also had five of Pioneer’s 17 stolen bases in a rout of host North White on May 8.
Kylie Attinger added two hits and two RBIs, and Emma Sells and Kamryn Newby each had two hits and an RBI. Jocelynn Vincent doubled and drove in a run, and Adeline Cripe and Ava Beasy each had a single and an RBI.
Hollie Zellers and Casey Webb each had a single.
Blickenstaff pitched her first career shutout. Only three of the 18 batters she faced reached base.
Pioneer scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed.

Western 9, Pioneer 2 (May 9): Crystabelle Blickenstaff hit a solo homer, but Class 3A, No. 2 Western scored nine runs in the first four innings to earn a home win over Pioneer on May 9.
Adeline Cripe, Emma Sells, Hollie Zellers, Kylie Attinger and Casey Webb each contributed a single for Pioneer. Attinger also scored a run.
Cripe was the losing pitcher. She allowed six hits and six runs (four earned) in two innings while walking two and striking out none.
Sells relieved and pitched four innings. She allowed five hits and three runs (all earned) while walking one and striking out none.
Western’s Kylie Miller pitched a six-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts. Brynley Erb and Sienna Stone both homered.
Western scored two runs in the first inning, two in the second, four in the third and one in the fourth.

West Central 13, Pioneer 2 (6 innings, May 11): Crystabelle Blickenstaff had two singles, a double and an RBI, but the host Lady Panthers lost in six innings to Class 1A, No. 8 West Central on May 11.
Adeline Cripe had two hits and scored a run, and Kamryn Newby had a single and an RBI. Emilie Schmaltz, Jocelynn Vincent and Kylie Attinger had one hit each.
Blickenstaff pitched 1 ⅔ innings and took the loss. She allowed three hits and five runs (one earned) while walking one and striking out three. Cripe relieved and worked 3 ⅔ innings and allowed six hits and five runs (four earned) while walking three and striking out two. Sells tossed two-thirds of an inning and allowed two hits and three runs (two earned). She walked one and struck out none.
West Central’s Kailee Bishop doubled and homered and drove in five runs.
Jaden Erb pitched a seven-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts.
West Central built a 5-1 lead after two innings and never trailed.

Pioneer 9, Culver Academy 7 (May 12): Kylie Attinger had three hits, and Crystabelle Blickenstaff and Jocelynn Vincent had two hits and two RBIs each for Pioneer in a come-from-behind home win over Culver Academy at Herk Hoffman Field on May 12.
Hollie Zellers had two hits and an RBI, and Kamryn Newby also had two hits. Casey Webb and Emma Sells each had a hit and an RBI. Adeline Cripe also had an RBI.
Pioneer won despite their pitchers walking six. Blickenstaff pitched three innings for the win and allowed three hits and a run. She walked two and fanned none. Cripe pitched four innings and allowed five hits and five earned runs in four innings. She walked four and fanned two.
Eliza Loehr hit a solo homer for Culver Academy.
Culver Academy led 6-4 after five innings before Pioneer took the lead for good with five in the bottom of the sixth.

Benton 17, Pioneer 4 (6 innings, May 18): Crystabelle Blickenstaff singled and homered and drove in two runs, and Adeline Cripe singled and also had two RBIs for the Pioneer softball team in a home loss to Benton Central at Herk Hoffman Field on May 18.
Emilie Schmaltz contributed a pair of singles. Kylie Attinger had a double, and Kamryn Newby had a single.
Three Pioneer pitchers combined to walk eight and hit three batters. Cripe started and pitched three innings and took the loss. Kankakee Valley 16, Pioneer 6 (5 innings, May 19): Crystabelle Blickenstaff singled and homered and had three RBIs, but the visiting Pioneer softball team lost in five innings in their regular season finale to Kankakee Valley on May 19.
Adeline Cripe singled and doubled, and Ava Beasy also had two hits. Casey Webb singled and drove in two runs, and Kylie Attinger had a hit and an RBI.
Emma Sells and Kamryn Newby had one hit each.
Three different Lady Panthers pitchers combined to allow 15 hits and walk five. Each pitcher yielded at least five runs.
Pioneer also committed three errors which led to seven unearned runs for Kankakee Valley.
Emma Sells took the loss in the circle, allowing six hits and six runs (four earned) in 1 ⅔ innings. Blickenstaff allowed six hits and five runs (three earned) in 1 ⅓ innings. She walked two and struck out one. Cripe pitched an inning and allowed three hits and five runs (two earned) while walking three, hitting a batter and striking out one.
Already leading 7-5, the Lady Kougars scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth. Kankakee Valley scored in all four innings in which they batted.
Pioneer finished the regular season 15-14.
