Aspen Moolenaar won the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the pole vault and also ran a leg on the victorious 4 x 100 relay team to lead the Pioneer girls to the Cass County Invitational title at Logansport Saturday.

Pioneer scored 73 points to edge Lewis Cass, who had 71. Logansport had 65 points, and Caston had 34.

Moolenaar, a junior, ran the 100 hurdles in 15.83 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 48.54 seconds, and she also cleared 10-0 in the pole vault.

Moolenaar’s 100 hurdles time broke Michelle Hayden’s 22-year-old school record.

Other Pioneer individual champions in the girls meet included Michelle Harding, who won the long jump with a leap of 16-4 ¾, and Keirsten Nies, who won the high jump after clearing 5-0.

Nies, Michelle Harding and Moolenaar ran the first three legs of the 4 x 100 relay, and Rachel Harding anchored it in 51.63 seconds.

Nies also finished second behind Michelle Harding in the long jump with a leap of 16-1 ¾.

Caston had no champions, but Camila Hernandez-Rios was second in the 400, and the 4 x 400 relay team that consisted of Madi Douglass, Hernandez-Rios, Grace Colvin and Hannah Rogers took second. Colvin also cleared 5-0 in the high jump but settled for third place on fewest misses criteria.

Lewis Cass junior Aftin Griffin won the 100, 200, 400 and 800 and won the Fred Kinder Star of Stars Award for the third straight year.

In the boys meet, Pioneer’s Leighton Dodt won the 400, 800 and 1,600 and also ran the anchor leg on the victorious 4 x 400 relay team to win the Fred Kinder Star of Stars Award for the third straight year and help Pioneer finish in third place.

Lewis Cass won with 76 points, Logansport had 71.5, Pioneer had 60.5, and Caston had 35.

Dodt ran the 400 in 50.46 seconds, the 800 in 2:05.91 and the 1,600 in 4:48.89. The other Pioneer individual champion was sophomore Dane Bowditch, who won the 3,200 in 11:06.85.

Seniors Austin Brooke and Ian Kitchell both ran legs on the victorious 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay teams. Kaleb Boller and Dodt joined them on the 4 x 400 team, and Bowditch and freshman Phillip McFatridge joined them on the 4 x 800 relay.

The lone Caston champ was sophomore Nathanial Runkle, who won the shot put with a heave of 44-4.
