C. McCuen, Herrell, Molebash each have RBIs, but Culver baseball falls to Triton in 11

Triton 5, Culver 3 (11 innings, May 9): Braiden Molebash had a single and an RBI, and Caleb McCuen and Reese Herrell also had RBIs, but host Culver lost to conference and sectional rival Triton in 11 innings on May 9.

Leadoff hitter Hayden Parker ignited the offense with a single and a double. Derek McKee doubled and scored a run. Brady Kindernay, Connor Moon and Cameron Whitworth contributed singles.

Parker took over in the ninth inning and allowed four hits and three runs (all earned) and took the loss. He walked three and struck out two.

Parker followed McCuen and Whitworth to the mound. McCuen pitched the first three innings and allowed two runs and two hits (both earned) while walking two and striking out six. Whitworth followed with five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and a walk with no strikeouts.

Triton pitchers Zak Greer and Braxton Kaufman combined to walk just one and strikeout 13.

Triton led 2-1 going into the bottom of the seventh and 3-2 going into the bottom of the 10th, but Culver came back to tie it both times.

Triton would later beat Culver 3-1 in 11 innings in the sectional semifinal at Tri-Township on May 27.

C. McCuen has lone Culver hit in loss to LaVille

LaVille 13, Culver 1 (5 innings, May 16): Caleb McCuen had a single for Culver’s lone hit in a five-inning Hoosier North road loss to LaVille on May 16.

McCuen also scored Culver’s lone run.

McCuen took the loss on the mound after allowing 13 hits and 13 runs (11 earned) in 3 ⅔ innings. He walked five and struck out three.

Hayden Parker relieved and retired the only batter he faced on one pitch.

Konner Quinn pitched a one-hitter with no walks and 14 strikeouts while throwing only 59 pitches. He faced 16 batters, just one over the minimum.

LaVille scored in all four innings in which they batted, including back-to-back five-run innings in the third and fourth.

LaVille 12, Culver 0 (5 innings, May 17): Caleb McCuen and Reese Herrell each had a hit, but the host Cavaliers lost for the second straight day to LaVille to finish 0-14 in the Hoosier North on May 17.

McCuen’s hit was a double.

Jonas McCuen took the loss on the mound after allowing 10 runs (nine earned) in four innings. He allowed eight hits and walked five while fanning nine.

Cameron Whitworth allowed four hits and two runs in the fifth with one strikeout.

Karson Quinn and Karson Quinn combined for six hits and six RBIs for LaVille. Collin Czarnecki had three hits and two RBIs.

Lucas Plummer pitched a two-hit shutout with three walks and nine strikeouts.

LaVille scored three runs in the top of the first inning and scored in four of the five innings in which they batted.
