Caston girls use quick start to beat West Central
Zimpleman scores 15 as Caston beats Peru for first time in over 20 years

Caston games against Tri-County, Lakeland Christian canceled: The Caston girls basketball team’s game against Lakeland Christian scheduled for Thursday has been canceled. Caston’s game against sectional rival Tri-County that was scheduled for Jan. 16 was also canceled.
Caston 47, West Central 24 (Thursday): Bailey Harness scored nine points, and Jordan Clingler added eight for the Lady Comets in a road win over West Central Thursday.
Caston jumped out to a 17-2 lead and kept a double-digit lead the entire game. Caston won despite making just one of 13 3-point attempts.
Caston led 28-10 at halftime.

Caston 46, Peru 33 (Jan. 11): Freshman guard Addison Zimpleman hit two 3-pointers and scored a game-high 15 points for the Lady Comets in a road win over Peru Jan. 11.
Jordan Clingler and Isabel Scales added eight apiece. Scales also had a team-high seven assists. Bailey Harness had four points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Zimpleman and Abby Williamson had six rebounds each.
Caston led 28-18 at halftime.
Caston made more free throws (9) than Peru attempted (8).
While historical records are sketchy, it is believed to be Caston’s first win over Peru in at at least 20 years.
Caston also won the JV game 45-25. Emma Kay led three Caston players in double figures with 12 points. Macee Hinderlider and Alexa Finke had 10 each. Kinzie Mollenkopf had six points and eight rebounds, Annie Harsh had four points, and Mikayla Kinser had three points.

Caston 45, Culver 42 (Jan. 8): Joey Spin hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Comets to a Hoosier North road win over Culver at John R. Nelson Gymnasium Jan. 8.
Spin and Kade Zeider tied for team-high scoring honors with 13 points. Sam Smith and Bryce Rudicel had seven points each, and Cam Kline had five.
Recovering from an injury, Spin was playing in his first game since Nov. 24.
Owen Clingler hit five 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Culver. Jalen King added 10.
Culver led 17-14 at halftime and 29-28 after three quarters.
Caston outscored Culver 19-4 from the foul line.
Caston beat Culver for the third straight season.
