Zeider scores 23, including go-ahead trey with 3:38 left

Caston 55, Tri-County 51: Kade Zeider hit seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points, and Cam Kline knocked down four treys and added 14 to lift the Caston boys basketball team to a 55-51 win over host Tri-County in a Class 1A, Sectional 52 semifinal Friday.
Zeider’s 3-pointer with 3:38 left put Caston ahead for good at 47-44. Joey Spin’s 3-pointer off a Bryce Rudicel assist made it 50-46 with 2:12 left.
Joey Spin hit a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and added eight points. Caston hit 14 pointers as a team.
The Comets missed their first six free throws but made five of six in the final 35.3 seconds to secure the win.
Logan Doty had 16 points, Jaedan Johnson had 15, and Nate Corbin had 10 for the Cavaliers, who lost to Caston in the sectional for the second straight year.
Doty had as many points as the Caston team (seven) in the third quarter as Tri-County built a 38-35 lead after three quarters.
Caston (9-15) will play North White in the sectional final at 6 p.m. Saturday. North White topped Pioneer 48-38 in the second semifinal.
North White beat Caston 56-46 in their regular season meeting on Feb. 13.
Tri-County lost their 11th consecutive game to finish the regular season 3-16.
