Caston’s Kinzie Mollenkopf was voted Hoosier North MVP in voting done by the conference’s coaches and released to the media Monday.
Five teammates joined Mollenkopf on the all-conference team: Addison Zimpleman, Isabel Scales, Kylee Logan, Macee Hinderlider and Annie Harsh. In addition, Bailey Harness earned honorable mention status.
Pioneer’s Adeline Cripe, Ava Beasy and Kylie Attinger also made the first team while Crystabelle Blickenstaff and Emma Sells were named honorable mention.
Culver’s Luci Overmyer was also named all-Hoosier North. Fellow senior Kaitlyn Kanschat and freshman Gracie Milam earned honorable mention.
Mollenkopf hit .552 with nine homers and 42 RBIs and a 1.541 OPS and also went 12-2 with a 2.83 ERA in the circle. She had 181 strikeouts in 108 ⅔ innings pitched.
In a pep rally at the Comet Crater Saturday after Caston’s state title game loss to Tecumseh, coach Jon Burks said that Mollenkopf had won MVP unanimously.
Zimpleman, a junior second baseman-pitcher, hit .506 with 10 homers and 30 RBIs. She also had a team-high 18 walks and a 1.608 OPS.She also went 5-2 with a 2.98 ERA in the circle with 84 strikeouts in 51 ⅔ innings.
Scales, a junior shortstop, hit .545 with a team-leading 15 homers and 49 RBIs. Scales ranked in the top 10 in the state in homers, and she had an 1.805 OPS.
Logan, a freshman catcher, hit .365 with four homers and 26 RBIs and a .990 OPS. Hinderlider, a junior third baseman, hit .526 with four homers and 25 RBIs and a 1.416 OPS. Harsh, a junior first baseman, hit .437 with three homers and 21 RBIs. She also had 16 walks and a 1.258 OPS.
Harness, a senior center fielder, hit .301 with two homers and 11 RBIs and an .879 OPS.
Cripe, a junior infielder-outfielder-pitcher, hit .400 with 22 RBIs and a .926 OPS for the Lady Panthers. Beasy, a freshman, hit .446 with two homers and 28 RBIs and an 1.110 OPS. Attinger, a junior outfielder, had a team-best .560 batting average with one homer and 20 RBIs. She also tied for the team lead in walks with 13 and had a 1.244 OPS.
Blickenstaff hit .495 with nine homers and 46 RBIs and a 1.476 OPS. Sells hit .420 with 19 RBIs and a .952 OPS.
Overmyer, a senior catcher, hit .442 with a team-high 13 RBIs and a 1.085 OPS.
Kanschat, a senior shortstop, hit .340 with one homer and 11 RBIs. Milam, a freshman infielder, hit .262 with one homer and five RBIs.
