Caston’s Joey Spin has been named Hoosier North MVP in voting done by the conference’s coaches.
Spin joins teammates Jessie Rock-Wolf, Carter See and Kade Zeider to make first-team all-Hoosier North. Sam Smith was an honorable mention all-conference pick.
In addition, seven players from conference co-champs Pioneer and six players from conference co-champs Winamac were also recognized.
Pioneer’s Caleb Sweet, Brayden Erickson, Hunter Klepinger and Wyatt Zeider made the first team, and Daniel Reyes, Tyler Gaumer and Noah Pearson made honorable mention.
Winamac’s Russell Compton, Caleb Seymour, Caleb Good and Hayden Clark made the first team, and Tyler Perry and Mitchell Bonnell made honorable mention.
No Culver players were recognized.
Spin hit .550 with a team-high 27 RBIs and nine extra-base hits at the plate. He also stole a team-high 24 bases. Spin also went 6-3 with a 3.46 ERA on the mound. In 54 ⅔ innings, he allowed 61 hits and 27 earned runs while walking 17 and striking out 63.
Pioneer, Winamac, LaVille and North Judson finished in a four-way tie for the conference title with identical 10-4 conference records. Caston went 9-5 and finished fifth. Culver went 0-14.
