Culver falls to South Central in sectional to end winless season

The Culver baseball team’s season ended with an 18-4 loss in five innings to South Central (Union Mills) in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 quarterfinal at LaCrosse Wednesday.

Culver finishes the season 0-22. South Central, who has won a baseball sectional the last four times it has been held, improved to 16-12.

The Satellites will play LaCrosse in the semifinals at 10 a.m. Eastern Saturday. Oregon-Davis and Triton will follow in the second semifinal.

Brady Glisic and Bradley Ferrell had two hits and three RBIs each for South Central. Todd Snyder had three hits and two RBIs.

Seventeen different South Central players had at least one at-bat, and the Satellites also used four different pitchers. Freshman Colin Ward allowed one hit and struck out seven in 3 ⅓ innings for the win.

South Central scored 10 runs in the third inning to take a 13-0 lead.
