Caston 8-6, Peru 7-1 (Saturday): Annie Harsh’s walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the eighth secured the Caston softball team’s 8-7 win in eight innings over visiting Peru in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.

Bailey Harness had a single, a double and an RBI, and Kylee Logan had a double and an RBI. Alexa Finke, Macee Hinderlider, Haley Logan and Addison Zimpleman had one hit each.

Zimpleman pitched the final two innings and got the win. She allowed one hit and no walks while striking out three.

Kinzie Mollenkopf pitched the first six innings and allowed nine hits and no walks while striking out 12.

Peru scored four runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 7.

In Game 2, Zimpleman pitched a five-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts as Caston won 6-1. She also had a single and a double at the plate.

Isabel Scales doubled and homered and drove in three runs.

The game was reduced to five innings. No reason was given for why the game was cut short.
