Hayden scores 9, Cox 7 as Valley holds off West Lafayette

Girls basketball

Tippecanoe Valley 32, West Lafayette 30 (Friday): Lucy Hayden scored nine points, and Kelsey Cox had seven for the Valley girls basketball team as they held off a West Lafayette fourth quarter rally Friday in their first game in 15 days.

Adrianne Tolen had 11 points, and Sarah Werth had nine for the Lady Red Devils.

Valley led 14-13 at halftime and extended the lead to 26-18 after three quarters.

Valley (15-3) shot 27 percent from the field but held West Lafayette to 23 percent. West Lafayette (12-9) also missed all 16 of their 3-point tries.
