Herd beats LaVille, helps Caston improve to 3-1 in Hoosier North

Caston 6, LaVille 3 (Tuesday): Noah Herd pitched a nine-hitter, and Pete DuVall singled, walked and drove in two runs for the host Comets in a Hoosier North win over LaVille Tuesday.

Caston won despite having only two hits. Caleb Stinson also had a hit and an RBI.

Jackson Rentschler walked twice.

LaVille also committed five errors that led to three unearned runs for Caston.

Herd walked three, hit a batter and struck out three.

The game was tied 3-3 before Caston took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Caston is 3-1 in conference play. The Comets lost their opener at LaVille last week before sweeping a doubleheader at Knox Saturday.
