Winamac 55, Twin Lakes 50 (Nov. 21): John Malchow scored 16 points, and Brendan Hines hit a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as part of his 15 for the host Warriors in a win over Twin Lakes in their season opener on Nov. 21.
Jayse Bentle scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter, and Will Malchow also had eight for Winamac, who won their first game under new coach Mike Springer.
Winamac trailed 28-18 at halftime, but they shaved the deficit to 32-31 after three quarters.
Justin Potthoff’s layup at the buzzer on a press breaking inbounds pass from Will Malchow secured the win.
Winamac hung on despite making just nine of 20 free throws in the fourth quarter.
Winamac won their season opener for the first time since 2017.
Twin Lakes won their Class 3A sectional last year.
