Amy Williams, Macie Nelson and Mercedes Brown scored two goals each for the Rochester girls soccer team in a 12-0 win over Oregon-Davis at the Brent Blacketor Memorial Sports Complex Wednesday.
Nine different RHS players scored a goal, and eight different players had an assist.
Of the nine players who scored, six of them are seniors. Brown, Abbi Richard, Ellie Shank, Dallas Holloway, Krista Dillingham and Tessa Brooks comprise the senior class, and all of them scored.
All six seniors were also honored during senior night ceremonies at halftime.
“We have six stellar players that have been in our starting lineup and rotation for almost their entire four years of playing,” RHS coach Chantal Rensberger said. “It was very one-sided in our favor. I felt like in the first five, 10 minutes to realize that we are the better team, and we need to slow down a little bit. But then the floodgates just opened, so it was a great victory for our girls.”
Junior Rilya Heishman also scored a goal for the Lady Zs.
Brown and Haley Pesak had two assists each. Richard, Dillingham, Lilith Eaton, Brylee Elliott, Kami Burkett and Heishman each had one assist.
“I was able to utilize my entire bench the entire game,” Rensberger said. “Everyone got to step on the field, which is hard sometimes, but I think it was a great victory and an excitement for everyone, so it was a good game.”
The O-D game was sandwiched on the schedule between games against sectional rivals Argos and Bremen. RHS lost to two-time defending sectional champion Argos 2-0 on Monday.
They host Bremen at 10 a.m. Saturday.
“In the five or six years I’ve coached, we’ve never beat them,” Rensberger said. “I don’t know what to expect from them. They don’t have stats on MaxPreps. I know that they are 1-4. … It’s a big game. It’s another home game. It’s a 10 o’clock-in-the-morning game. There’s going to be soccer being played all day long here, so we can draw some good fans, and the momentum from tonight will lead into Saturday, and we can get that win.
“For me, that’s a Bucket List as a coach – Argos and Bremen. We’ve never beat Bremen, so I’m excited to play them.”
