Manchester’s Schroll, Wawasee’s Akase share Player of the Week

Neither of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week co-winners for District 1 boys announced Tuesday covering the week of Jan. 19 are from the RTC area, but both have a connection.

One winner is Wawasee senior Stephen Akase, who, had 40 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in a 57-41 win over Plymouth Friday.

Akase played at Tippecanoe Valley from 2022-25 before transferring.

The other winner is Manchester sophomore guard Wyatt Schroll, who followed a 31-point effort at Rochester in a 51-47 win Friday with 40 points, three rebounds, three assists and four steals in a 74-48 home win over Adams Central Saturday.
