McCarter, Clevenger win at singles, help Rochester edge Whitko

Bolinger, Nichols win in straight sets at No. 1 doubles

Girls tennis

Rochester 3, Whitko 2 (Wednesday): Ella McCarter and Rylee Clevenger won in straight sets at singles, and Audrey Bolinger and Chloe Nichols won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles as the host Lady Zs stayed unbeaten in Three Rivers Conference play with a win over Whitko Wednesday.

Rochester is 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the TRC.

McCarter won 6-2, 6-0 over Bailey Wolfe at No. 1 singles. Clevenger squeezed out a 10-8 marathon tiebreak in the first set and won 7-6, 6-3 over Alexa Culp at No. 3 singles.

Bolinger and Nichols won a 7-5, 6-4 encounter with Grace Burnsworth and Hannah Moore.

Whitko’s points came from Jillian Culp, who beat Taylor Howard 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Lilly Coil and Ella Thomas, who topped Sophie McCall and Vivian Miller 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Whitko won the JV match 6-0.

Rochester’s next dual is a road match at Manchester at 5 p.m. Monday.
