McKaig scores 14, Kennell adds 12, but Pioneer falls to Southwood

Southwood 53, Pioneer 44 (Tuesday): Mia McKaig hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 14 points, and Liz Kennell added 12 for Pioneer (0-2) in a loss to host Southwood Tuesday.

Avery Haselby added six. Lois Layer made her season debut and scored two.

Pioneer made just 12 of 23 free throws.

Freshman Sophia Cline led Southwood with 18, who hung on after building a 51-32 lead after three quarters.
