Ortiz scores 15, but Culver falls to Oregon-Davis

Lady Cavaliers fall to Covenant Christian despite 18 from Peterson

Boys basketball

Oregon-Davis 53, Culver 52 (Wednesday): Emiliano Ortiz scored 15 points, and Marquez Anderson added 11 for the visiting Cavaliers in a loss to sectional rival Oregon-Davis Wednesday.

Mason Herbert added nine, Ethan Keller had five, Auston Zehner and Shane Shuman had four each, and Jalen King and Joey Pizur had two points each.

Ethan Huitt led Oregon-Davis with 13 points.

O-D led 21-20 at halftime and extended the lead to 38-31 after three quarters before Culver rallied.

The teams were also supposed to meet in a Bi-County consolation game at the LaVille auxiliary gym on Jan. 21, but the game was canceled due to COVID-19 issues at Oregon-Davis.

Girls basketball

Covenant Christian (DeMotte) 51, Culver 39 (Tuesday): Rose Peterson knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 18 points, but the host Lady Cavaliers fell to Covenant Christian (DeMotte) Tuesday.

Brynn Berndt added nine points, and Grace Sieber had six.

Culver (4-15) hit seven 3-pointers.

Skylar Bos had 16 points, Sophie Bakker had 13, and Gabbi Zeilenga had 11 for Covenant Christian (17-4).

Covenant Christian outscored Culver 18-2 from the foul line.

Culver led 23-21 at halftime.

The teams were supposed to meet Monday, but the game was postponed by one day due to weather.
