Parker takes medalist with 76, helps Valley finish 3rd at home invite

Tippecanoe Valley senior Wes Parker shot a 4-over-par 76 to take medalist honors and help his team finish 3rd out of 10 teams at the Valley Invitational at Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek Friday.

Parker bested a field of 51 golfers. His round includes birdies on the 14th and 18th holes, both par-4s. He also had two bogeys and two double-bogeys.

Other Valley scores included Nash Bouse’s 85, Ian Young’s 93, Will Parker’s 97 and Kyzer Hughes’ 103.

Hughes had a birdie on the par-3 16th hole.

Valley fielded both a “Green” and a “Gold” team, representing their varsity and JV teams, respectively.

The “Gold” team shot a 415 and finished 10th. That team consisted of Tanner Glennie’s  100, Dane Scacco’s 101, Noah Mellott’s 104, Thad Shambaugh’s 110 and William Mellott’s 124. Scacco birdied No. 9.

Among other area teams, North Miami shot a 369 and finished fourth, Rochester shot a 380 and finished sixth, and Winamac shot a 385 and finished seventh.

Gavyn Fritz had an 87, highlighted by a birdie on No. 16, and was North Miami’s low scorer. Other North Miami scores included Zeph Reshkus’ 93, Hayden Spin’s 93, Kale Deardorff’s 96 and Max Craft’s 99.

As for Rochester, junior Isaac Heishman shot an 80 to finish third among all individuals. His round included a birdie on No. 9 and birdies on the back-to-back par-5s on Nos. 11 and 12.

Other Rochester scores included Ashton Musselman’s 88, Brevin Nicholson’s 104, Jack Reffett’s 108, Parker Brown’s 112 and Adam Reinhold’s 116. Musselman also had back-to-back birdies on Nos. 11 and 12.

Winamac’s Logan Fredel and Justin Potthoff each shot a 95 to lead their team. Jayden Beckner added a 97, Louis Rugg III had a 98, and Rylan Craig had a 106. Rugg’s birdie on No. 12 was Winamac’s only birdie.

Fremont won the tournament with a 336. Lewis Cass was second with a 349.
